Cycling Safety Project

We provide accurate, city-wide cycling safety maps to improve the cycling conditions in cities. Join us!

Two simple steps to help us create a cycling safety map for DC!

Step 1: Watch videos recorded by cyclists
Step 2: Rate the safety level of the routes

You need an email address to participate. We will ask you a few questions regarding your cycling experience and then you will be able to start watching and rating videos. You can stop at any time you wish. The ratings you and other cyclists provide are averaged for each street; and once you are done rating, we will show you the cycling safety map for D.C with the ratings collected so far. With your help, we will be able to create safety maps like the one shown below, and to understand what are the factors that make certain streets safer. The more videos you rate, the more you'll be helping cycling safety and science!

We will raffle twelve $25 gift cards among all participants! The more videos you rate, the higher your chances of winning one (winners will be notified via email in December). You can participate as many times as you want, just remember to always use the same email.
